Darryl Tricksey is a former educator, human capital consultant, and marketing leader who currently serves as the Southeast Senior Brand Manager for Red Bull based in Atlanta. Darryl is an Atlanta native and a graduate of Southwest DeKalb High School and the University of Georgia (UGA). In his current role, Darryl is a highly respected and sought after regional brand manager and thought leader who is responsible for fostering community and ideating collegiate and adult programs to encourage a more productive lifestyle. Darryl’s achievements throughout his life and career have been driven by his ability to build genuine connections, lead passionately, and strategically leverage his career to drive community impact.
Darryl’s experience as a student and educator from an underrepresented community is what undergirds his spirit of service and desire to give back to communities of color across the Atlanta area. While attending UGA, Darryl received several notable distinctions for his community and campus engagement. He was named UGA’s “Amazing Student,” an honor given to only 12 university students per year for his academic accomplishments and undergraduate research, selected as a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity (receiving the highest distinction for an undergraduate student internationally – the Guy Levis Grant Award), and elected as the university’s first all-Black pairing for homecoming king and queen. After graduating, Darryl joined Teach for America, where he taught middle school science in Houston for 4 years. After only 2 years of teaching Darryl was awarded Teacher of the Year and went on to become recognized as the runner-up for District Teacher of the Year. Moreover, he was also nominated for the Sue Lehmann Excellence in Teaching award which recognizes leaders working inside and outside of the classroom in the pursuit of change and advancing Teach for America’s impact. After 4 years of educating students, Darryl earned an MBA and served as section president at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business after being awarded a full-tuition scholarship.
In 2016, Darryl moved back to Atlanta as a management consultant in PricewaterHouse Coopers (PwC) in their Human Capital practice. As a Human Capital consultant, Darryl worked across numerous Fortune 500 companies, nationally helping them to tackle some of their most pressing people issues including diversity, equity and inclusion, change management, and learning and development. Motivated by his desire to have a more tangible impact specific to the Atlanta and the broader Southeast Region, Darryl decided to pivot his career as a senior regional brand marketer. In this capacity he has been able to use his marketing expertise to align business objectives with ways to meet the needs of local communities. Darryl has worked across notable brands including Maker’s Mark, the Miami Dolphins, and most recently, Red Bull.
